YOUR LETTER TO CONGRESS
December 1 2021
Dr. Miguel Cardona
Secretary of Education
U.S. Department of Education
400 Maryland Avenue, SW
Washington, D.C. 20202
Dear Dr. Cardona,
We’re writing to you on behalf of students across the country. We have some bad news. They’re angry.
They’re angry about climate change. They’re angry about inequality. They’re angry because they are paying attention, and they see the widening gap between what they learn and what happens all around them. They see the problems that face this nation.
This past semester we focused on how much students learn about taxes in school. 2,500 students voted that:
-
76% are not comfortable at all filing taxes
-
87% think it is very important to know how to file taxes
-
33% have not learned anything about filing taxes at their school
-
70% would be interested about filing taxes at school
This is one of many issues that students feel need to be addressed in the educational system.
We have some good news too. They’re also going to be the ones to fix it. They just need you to listen. We’d like to invite you to visit the Rage Room, to hear what they have to say.
Sincerely,

THE RAGE ROOM

At the end of every semester.

From our voting page where the topic of the semester is chosen based on what is talked most about in our Rage Room Form.

Why is it important to vote?
Because you get to voice your frustrations to the people who are in charge of what you learn. You become part of the change that lets students be heard.
